Development Update 7: Cobra Kai Never Dies


COBRA KAI NEVER DIES!

It has been a WHILE! I had a hectic semester in college, which altered both how much time I could commit to this game and the scope of the game. Let's go over everything, including the official release date for Cobra Kai: The Best Around! 

Cobra Kai: The Best Around will be releasing on May 29th, one day before Karate Kid Legends!

Another big announcement, I would like to finally announce the YouTuber cameos I have teased. I got 3 YouTubers to join the game's roster as NPC extras within the All Valley Tournament Mode! They are:

Next order of business, scope. The project has been downscaled somewhat. The game will have 4 main game modes at launch. We will go through all of these here. 

Standard Match: Select your player and your opponent. You will also get to choose between 4 arenas at launch: All Valley, Miyagi Dojo, Sekai Taikai, and Cobra Kai Dojo. This is a simple mode where you get to have any matchup between any characters. This is also the mode from the demo

All Valley: Fight your way through the legendary All-Valley Tournament! Choose your favorite character, select any of the available skins for them, and fight till you drop in 6 rounds to become an all-valley champion. Each round will present you with a new, stronger opponent. For example, you might encounter Bert in round 1 and Kwon in the finals! In addition, winning the tournament with certain characters may unlock some surprise characters! Stay tuned!

Tag-Team (Sekai Taikai): A 6v6 mode inspired by the Sekai Taikai. In custom tag-team, you can create a team of 6 and fight against a randomized opponent dojo. In simulation mode, you will have the exact teams as featured in Season 6 of the show! Use your team to knock out all 6 members of the opponent dojo to win! Strategic switching is the key to victory!

Captain's Matches (Sekai Taikai): A 1v1 mode where there are multiple paths towards victory! Each hit scored on an opponent will award you a point. Each time you score a "super-effective" hit, your knockdown combo count will increase.  Land 3 of these hits in a row, and your opponent will be knocked down, scoring you 10 points. Finally, by depleting your opponent's healthbar, you will score a KO, ending the match immediately and giving you 20 points. 

These will be the modes available on launch day. For multiple reasons, I do not want to work on this game forever. Cobra Kai, the show, is over, and Karate Kid Legends is about to release worldwide. After this, for the foreseeable future, there will not be much Cobra Kai content. I want to release Cobra Kai: The Best Around while there is still hype for this universe. I am also not ruling out updates. I have considered doing updates for Karate Kid Legends content after the release, more arenas, etc, but we will see. For now, I want to release what I've got while there's still hype, and let free content updates come as they can. 

Lastly, no new teasers today is intentional. I have a big secret new feature that really gave the game an upgraded feel, and I want to reveal that in a trailer. Expect that sometime this week!
